27th September

 We made our way back to Hirta today and saw nothing. That was my last day fishing for the season here in the Azores. So thanks to all the people I have met and fished with this season it has been great. Tight lines and catchem up. Bonze

26th Septemeber

Today is our last day fishing off Ponta Delgada and we have another good day. We catch 1 for 3. The fish we caught was truely spectacular. It was 700lber that we had to the boat very quickly but went absolutely crazy on the leader. The fish stayed close for the whole fight and with the contidions of the water being absolutely perfect we could see the fish swimming deep down below us for 20 minutes. It was a truely beautiful show.

25th September

 Well today would have to be one of those special days I will remeber for a long time. We fished the bank again today and not long after arriving we hook a nice 850lber on a Bonze DS. We are lucky enough to get to the leader quickly and I get some nice jumps on the leader.A cranking way to start the day. The next thing that happens is something that will stay in my mind for a long time. We have a 900lber crash my DS lure and as I am just about to pull the last lure out of the water I have another fish crash the lure with the swivel at the rod tip! a double header. I call the second fish for a small one, 700lbs! It was amazing to see 2 big fish jumping at the same time close to the boat. We end up 3 for 5 for the day. A truely amazing day. 

24th September

 The weather just keeps being amazing absolutely flat calm! We head back to the bank infront of town today and go 3 for 3 on blues.  We catch 3 fish all around 400lbs. One each on the Bonze DS, Grimmel, and Tracker.

23rd September

 We head to the north of the island today after a late start. We only fish for a short time and see nothing.

22nd September

 Another cranking day today. The sea is glass calm and the fishing is awesome. We caught a double header today! A 500lb fish and a 700lb fish. I even got to catch one of them. The biggest fish I have ever caught.

21st September

 Well our first full day fishing the bank here. We had a great day and went 2 for 3 on blues. We caught a 300lber on a Bonze Tracker and a 500lber on a Bonze Grimmel.

20th September

 Well today we move to the island of Soa Miguel and the town of Ponta Delgada. We fish for a brief time on the way over and see nothing.

 Today was the last day Olaf fished on the boat. we managed to catch one nice fish of around 650lbs at the Condor Bank.

 15th September

 We caught a 600lber on the Bonze Grimmel today that gave an amazing fight. We fought the fish for over 1 hour with 70lbs of drag. The fish turned out to be hooked in the side of the head.

14th September

 A slower day today. We had one bite and that was it.

13th September

 A good day today. We fished again on the Condor and went 3 for 3. We caught a 350 on a Bonze DS a 400 on a Bonze Tracker and a nice 600lber on  a Bonze DS.

12th September

 We fished on the Condor Bank today. We went  0 for 3.

 I fished on the Makaira today and nothing for us.

9th September

 Well a great day today. We fished Condor Bank and ended up 3 for 7 on blues. We caught a 250lber on the Bonze Mongrel Dog a 300 and a 500 both on the Bonze Tracker.

7th September

 A windy day today. We fished in the lee in the North and raised one white marlin.

6th September

 a rough day today but we managed to raise one blue that would not switch.

5th September

Back to Condor Bank today and once again plenty of action. We raised 3 blues and 4 whites. We mangaed to switch one of the blues about 700lbs that we broke off after 1 hour. All the fish the past 2 days have come to the same teaser a Bonze Grimmel!

4th September

An action packed day today. We fished on Condor and raised 3 blues and 2 white marlin. We pitchd baist to 2 fish. The first we broke off on the bite on 16lb line the second fish we played for 2 hrs and 40minutes. the fish was tail wrapped and we could not get close to it. We eventually broke it off.

3rd September

 We raised one fish today but that would not switch to the bait.

Nothing for us today.

Today we raised 1 fish but it would not switch.

30th August

 Today we started with light tackle. We raised 2 fish but neither would switch to the pitch bait.

29th August

 Nothing for us today.

28th August

 Again I was back on Makaira and we headed to the Azores Bank. We had a good day and went 2 for 2 on blues with a 700 and a 750. The fish ate the Bonze Scorpion.

27th August

 Today was my first day on the new boat Makaira unfortunatel we saw nothing.

23rd August

 We headed to Condor Bank today and went 1 for 1with a 600lber on a Bonze Grimmel.

22nd August

 Another good day today we were back trolling lures today and at about 2.30 we had a fish up behind my DS Lure. After about 5  attempts we finally hooked the fish that went absolutely crazy. After a good fight we let a fish of 750lbs go.

20th August

 Well right at the ned of the day today we raised a big fish to the teasers. The fish was so aggressive that we teased it right to the transom and past the pitch bait. The fish then turned and we watched a nice 900lber crashed the skipping bait only a few meters from the transom! It was worth the few slow days.

 It is starting to get a little painful at the moment with not seeing anything for a few days.

 We caught a small white marlin today that ate a pitch bait that was about half its size.

 A quiet day for us today with nothing to report.

12th August

 Well today was a day that could have been. We had a disaster on the fishing front. We fished in the north and first of caught a small white marlin then we raised a nice fish over 800lbs that we switched only to break the line 1 meter from the leader. Then we raised a true monster well into the 900lb range (I think more) that we finally switched to a bait only to break the line on that fish aswell. Anyway thats fishing. I hope we get to have another chance at a fish like that again.

  Back to nothing for us today.

9th August

 Well today a much better day for us. We ran 45 miles to the Princes Alice bank and we were lucky enough to raise a nice 750lb fish to the teasers that we caught on 50lb after a spectacular bite right at the transom.

 Well an interesting day for us today. We went to north and caught a spearfish a mako shark and had a buch of white marlin bites.

 Well back to Condor today and we caught a blue of  425lbs and a white marlin. The first one I have ever caught.

1st August

 We headed for the Condor Bank today and we  had a good day. we went 2 for 2 on blues with both fish being caught on pitch baits. It was great to tease the fish then pitch the baits asall the action was very close to the boat. The fish were 700 and 450lbs.

31 July

 Well after yesterday we had another slow day and saw nothing.

30 July

 Well after a couple of slow days we finally had some action. We fished the Azores Bank and went 1 for 2. We caught a 800lber late in the day that we caught very quickly and gave me a good thrashing on the leader. My hand is not in great shape.

 Another good day today for us today. We fished the Azores bank and late in the afternoon raised a 450lber that crashed our short and the we hooked on the Bonze Grimmel on the long. It was even better as the fish was caught by a 12 year old boy.

23 July

 Well a good day today for us. we fished the Azores bank and went 1 for 2 on blues. we first off had a 700lber come on our short lure and pull a little bit of line and fall off. then later in the after noon we had a 550lber crash our Bonze DS.

22 July

  Well today was the start of our fihing season in the Azores. A rather rough day fishing in the north. We saw nothing today.

Well Guys I am away again this year back to Cape Verde to run the Happy Hooker. This is where I will keep you posted of my fishing and adventures.  All zeros for us today.

June 26

 We had a slower day to day. we went 1 for 1 on a 350lb fish that gave a great display on the bite. We caught it on a Bonze Argonaut.

June 25

 Today we went 1 for 2 with a 200lb fish on a bonze Tracker.

June 23

 A good day again today. We went 2 for 3 wit a 200lber on a Bonze BTK and a 300lber on a Bonze Mongrel Dog.

June 22

 Another good day today. we fished in the east and went 4 for 7. We had a double header straight away with a 200lb fish on a Bonze DS and a 300lber on a Bonze Mongrel Dog. We then caught a 200lb fish on a Bonze BTK and a 350lb fish on a Bonze Mongrel Dog.

June 21

 We had a good day today after not fishing for awhile. we went 4 for 5 fishing at the bank. We caught  a 200lber and a 400lber both on a Bonze apacche and a 250lber and a 300lber both on a Bonze Mongrel Dog.

June 18

 today we went jigging and I managed to catch a 27kg Amberjack that tore me apart. I am now feeling muscles I never new I had.

June 16

 Today I fished with Zac on the Beastn. We caught a nice 500lb fish on stand up Tackle.

 We fished the North again today and it was a good day for us. We went 3 for 4. We caught 3  fish between 250 and 300lbs all on a Bonze DS.

June 13

 We headed to the north today. Mid morning we had a double header which we caught 1 of. It was  250lb fish on a Bonze DS.

 Today we went 1 for 2 with a 250lb fish on a Bonze DS.

Today we fished in the East. Beautiful and calm weather. we ended the day 1 for 2 with a 200lb fish on a Bonze Hercules.

We had a frustrating day today. We went 0 for 2 in the norh. We did however catch a mako shrk which put on a great display.

We went 1 for 5 today with a 200lb fish on a Bonze Hercules.

We started a new charter after a few days off. We fished the north and went 1 for 2 with a 400lb fish on a Bonze Hercules.

we went 1 for 1 toad with 350lb fish that we were lucky enough to catch just as we wre bringing the lures in. This was on a Bonze DS.

We went 2 for 3 today fishing in the East of the island. We caught a 200lber on a Bonze Hercules then we caught 250lb fish on Bonze Vampire.

Today we went 1 for 4 on marlin with a 120lb fish on a Bonze DS.

 We went 1 for 4 again today with a small 120lb fish on a Bonze DS.

 We went 1 for 4 today with a 400lb fish on a Bonze Hercules.

We went 2 for 3 today. A 150 fish on a Bonze DLS and a 250lb fish on a Hercules. This was a double header.

May 18

Well another good day today. We went 4 for 6 in the south. We started with a 250lber on a Bonze BTK, then another 250lber on a Bonze Hercules. We the caught a 300lber on a Bonze Submission. Finally we got a 800lb fish which took over 2 hours and would probably be the toughest fish I have caught as a captain. this one was on a Bonze Hercules.

May 17

 Well we had another good day today. I went to the north today which was a gamble after yesterdays great day in the south. It paid off because I had the area to myself and went 4 for 7. We caught a 500lber on a Bonze Hercules and 3 fish of 250lbs each on Here For The Party, BTK,and Behemoth.

May 16

 Well what a day we had today. I decided to fish the bank today while everyone fished the north. We had an amazing day cathing 10 fish from 14 bites. It was utter caos. The fish were all between 200 and 350lbs with one going close to 600lbs. Lures to catch were Behemoth, Trojan, Mongrel Dog and Hercules.

May 15

We went 1 for 2 today with a 250lb fish on a Bonze trojan.

May 14

 We once again fished in the north and went 2 for 2 wit a 250lber on a Bonze tracker and a 200lb fish on a Bonze Trojan.

May 13

 Well a very rough day today. We went 2 for 3 by 10 oclock than had a problem with the boat and i had to come home on one engine which was not much fun. The fish were  a 150lber on a Bonze Trojan and a  250lber on a Bonze mongrel Dog.

May 12

 Another slow day  for us we went 0 for 1.

May 11

 Avery slow day for us today we went 0 for 1. Also on returning from fishing I found out my bag had been stolen from where I have my stuff stored so not aa great day for me.

 A very slow day for us today. we saw no marlin and ende up fishing close to shore for half the day.

May 9

 Well another great day fishing. We went 2for 4. We started the day with a 450lber on the Bonze Inferno and the got a absolute screamer bite on the same lure shortly after . This fish was a tough one and when we had her beside the boat we estimated her at around 800lbs.

May 8

A slower day for us after yesterday. We went 1 for 1 with a 400lb fish on a Bonze Hercules.

May 7

A great day fishing for us today. We went 5 for 12. We caught 4 fish of 250lbs with 2 each on the Bonze Inferno and Scorpion. Also a 200lb fish on a Bonze DLS.

May 6

Today was a frustrating day. We went 2 for 10. We caught a 200lber on a Bonze Vampire and a 300lber on a Bonze Inferno.

May 5

 Well we had a good day today fishing down in the East in calm water. We went 3 for 5 with a 350lber to start on the Bonze BTK then a 450lber on a Bonze Here For The Party. The high light of the day however was the biggest fish we have caught on the Happy Hooker since I have been captain. We called her 900lbs and she was caught on a Bonze Inferno.

May 4

 Today we started a new charter and went 2 for 2. One fish of 300lbs on the Bonze Behemoth and a 200lb fish on a Bonze Here For The Party.

May 2

We only fished half a day today but what a crazy morning of fishing. we went 1 for 3 but had the 300lb fish we caught jump up the side of the boat and put its head through the side window of the boat and then fall back in the water. It was crazy. this was on the Bonze Grimmel.

May 1

Today we fished in the east again and caught 1 for 2 and caught a 500lb fish on  a Bonze Hercules.

April 30

We went 0 for 2 today. I just can't hook them!

April 29

Today we had a frustrating day. We went 1 for 6 fishing down in the east of the island. We caught a 200lber on a Bonze Hercules.

April 25

Well the fish have definately arrived! We had a relatively slow day by other boats standards. We went 3 for 6. Some boats raised up to 18 fish. Anyway we caught 3 fieh on 300lbs all on a Bonze Anaconda. The highlight of the day however was our first spearfish in Cape Verde on the Happy Hooker. It was around 50lbs and once again was on the Bonze Anaconda. I do not fish for a few days now so fingers crossed I do not miss the good bite.

April 24

 We fished the bank again to day and went 1 for 3 with a 300lb fish and a bonze hercules. The bank looks very good so  hopefully the fish turn up in numbers soon.

April 23

 The weather continues to be good and we went 1 for 3 today. We caught a 300lb fish on a Bonze DLS.

April 22

The weather is good again and we caught 1 for 3. We caught a 300lb fish on a Bonze Hercules.

April 21

 Today we started a new charter and fished back on the bank since the weather was better. We gad a great day catching 2 from 3. We caught a 450lber first off on a Bonze FDS the a nice 700lber on a Bonze Hercules. This fish took us over 3 miles in less tha 20 minutes of fighting.

April 19

Another good day for us today. We fished down in the east of the island because it was rough. We caught 2 for 3 with a 200lber on a Bonze Tracker and a 500lber on  abonze Trojan.

April 18

 We had a better day today but the weather is very rough. We caught 2 from 3 with a 400lber first off on a Bonze Tracker then a 250lber on a Bonze Mongrel Dog.

April 17

 A slow day for us today we went 0 for 1.

April 16

We went 1 for 1 Today with a 200lb fish on  a Bonze Trojan.

April 15

 The fishing has slowed but we still went 1 for 1 with a 200lb fish on a Bonze Anaconda.

April 14

We went 1 for 2 today. With a 300lber on a Bonze DS fishing down in the East.

April 13

 Today we caught  2 from 2, A 325lber on the Bonze Mongrel Dog and a 200lber on a Bonze BTK.

April 12

We had a good day today we went 3 for 3. 2 fish on the hBonze Hercules a 300 and a 200lber. We the caught a 120lber right at the end of the day on the Bonze BTK.

April 11

 Today I fished onboard the new Cabo 40 Beast'n run by Zac. I was lucky enough to run the boat and we caught a 200lber on a pitch bait. Thanks Thomas and Zac.

April 10

 Today I fished on the Happy Hooker 2 with Simon. We caught 2 fish both on the Bonze Hercules with a 200 and a 300lb fish.

April 9

Another good day for us we went 4 for 12. The first fish we caught was 250lber on a Bonze Tracker then a 200lber on a Bonze Grimmel. Also another 200lber on a Bonze Tracker. We finished the day with a 120lber on a Bonze Hercules.

April 8

 Today was a stunning day for us. We went 2 for 7. I had my good mate Steve Hall on the deck today and we put him to work on the leader with a 700lb fish in 7 minutes on a Bonze Mongrel Dog. We then finished the day with a 500lb fish on the Bonze DS that we caught in 4 minutes, It was great having Steve on the leader.

April 7

This fishing is ver good at the moment. We went 3 for 5 today on the bank. Firts off we started with a 350lber on a Bonze Grimmel then we had a 200lb fish on the Bonze Trojan and finished the day with a 100lber on a Bonze Hercules.

April 6

 Well today was my first day fishing and it was great start to the season. We ended the day going 3 for 4. We landed a 3 fish in the 350lb range caught on the following lures Bonze Grimmel, Bonze Trojan and Bonze Mongrel Dog.

Fishing Report 7 - 11 April

  Well I have been here for just over three weeks now and have only really started fishing. Between these dates I have fished three days. Day 1 saw us go 1 for 1 on Blue marlin with a fish of 350lb caught on a Bonze Hercules. Day 2 saw us go 2 for 3 on blue marlin. 1 of 220lb that we caught on a Bonze Vampire and the other blue marlin of 300lb on a Bonze Submission. The highlight of the day however was a Big eye tuna of 113kg  that was caught on a Bonze Submission also. Day 3 saw extremely rough conditions but we ended up having a great day going 4 for 4 on Blue marlin. We started off with a 600lber caught on a Bonze Tracker then a 400lb blue on a Bonze Hercules then a 300lber also on a Bonze hercules that we unfortunately had to take home because it was bleeding badly then we fisnished the day off with a 250lber on A Bonze Tracker. Well we fish again next week so I will keep you posted.

13th - 23rd April
 
  Well I have just fished the past 10 days. Conditions have been nothing short of absolutely hideous. Winds averaging 25knots and no fish. I have had 3 strikes from blue marlin and the weather is really starting to take its toll. The weather has been so bad that one day of fishing it was blowing 45 knots and so rough that we came off a wave I guessed would have been 20 feet and I ended up been thrown over the helm station along with the chair beside me. I had to seriously consider if this is all worth it. I hope things get better soon as this rough weather is unbelievable.
 
24th April
 
 Well we decided to head across to the neighbouring island of San Antao today and fish in  the calm water. We went 1 for 3 on blues today. The fish we got was a 300lber on a Bonze Tracker.
 
25th April
 
  Today we fished again back at Soa Vicente where the weather has started to get better. We arrived at the bank to find good water and plenty of bait. It was not long and we were hooked onto a nice fish that we released and called 750lb on a Bonze Tracker. Shortly after the lures going in the water we were hooked up on a triple header of blue marlin. We managed to land 2 of those fish a 500lber on a Bonze Trojan and a 250lber on a Bonze Hercules. We ended the day going 3 for 8 on blues.
 
26th April
 
 The weather is nice here now and it is like fishing the calm water of Kona. We only fished a couple of hours today as the clients were late arriving but we went 2 for 4 on blues within an hour of arriving at the bank. Both fish were around 250lb and they were both on the Bonze Submission.
 
27th April
 
 Another great day for the weather but a frustrating day for the fishing. We went 1 for 8 today on blues. Only mangaing one fish of 150lb on a Bonze Havoc. The fish  are proving very hard to hook and the whole fleet is suffering the same problem.
 
28th April
 
Today we had another good day and went 4 for 12 on blues. The first fish was a 200lber on a Bonze Submission then we got another 200lber on a Bonze Hercules. Then to finish the day we got a doubler header of blues. One of 300lbs and the other of 350lbs both fish were on a Bonze Hercules.
 
29th April
 
 Well it was an outstanding day for us today we went 6 for 11 on blues. we got a 600lber on a Bonze Submission. Then a 150lber on a Bonze BTK. Then a 250lber on a Bonze Trojan. Then a 250lber on a Bonze Hercules. Then we finished the day getting a triple header on and landing 2 fish out of the 3. A 250lber on a Bonze Submission and a 150lber on a Bonze Here For The Party.
 
30th April
 
  Today was another good day and we saw some big fish today and some amazing strikes from fish as the water is still very flat. It is paradise going fishing here when the conditions are like this but you always have the memories of what it is like when it is rough here. It is very extreme. Well we started the day out with a 550lber the the local fisherman tried to Harpoon while we were fighting the fish. I don't know any creol language but I think they new my english when I was shouting a few words at them. Anyway we caught that fish on a Bonze Hercules. We then release a fish of 650lb  on a Bonze Submission. We then got one of 220lb on a Bonze Hercules and another one of 220lb ooon a Bonze Submission. We ended the day 4 for 7.

1st May

 Another good day for us. The fishing continues to be very good. We went 4 for 9 on blues today. All small fish in the 3 were 250lb and one fish of 150lb. Lures to catch fish were Bonze Here For The Party, Bonze Hercules and Bonze Trojan.

2nd May

 We started with a new client today from Germany. We left mid morning after fuelling and arrived at the bank at around 11am. The conditions were perfect and by 11.15 we had released a blue marlin of 200lbs on a Bonze DS. We quickly reset the lures and were promptly hooked up again to a really nice fish which we had to the boat in 15 minu´tes. Boatside we called it 800lbs and unfortunately we had to take the fish as it was not in good shape. That ended the days fishing as we had to tow the fish home slowly. This is my biggest fishi so far and was taken on a Bonze DS.

3rd May

 Another great day for us we went 4 for 9 on Blues. We started the morning off with a 500lb fish on a Bonze Hercules. Then a fish of 200lbs on a Bonze Submission. We finished the day off with a double header one fish of 150lbs on a Bonze Vampire and one fish of 200lbs on a Bonze DS.

4th May

 A very slow day for us today we ended the day 0 for2.

5th May

 We only fished a very short day today as the weather has turned for the worse and conditions were nearly unfishable but we did manage a fish of 150lbs on a Bonze Hercules.

6th May

 No fishing today as the weather is to bad to fish.

7th May

 The weather has settled and we are back fishing today. We managed 2 fish for the day from 9 strikes. One fish of 300lbs on a Bonze Hercules and a 400lbs fish also on a Bonze Hercules.

8th May

 Today we went 3 for 5 on Blues. A slow start to the day but a lunch time we released our first fish of 300lbs on a Bonze Submission. We then managed  a 250lber on a Bonze Hercules and right at the end of the day we managed a really tough fighting 200lber on a Bonze Trojan. 

9th May

 We went 1 for 2 today only fishing a half day. With a fish of 300lbs on a Bonze Submission.

10th May

  Back to fishina full day today and we went 3 for 9. The first fish was a 500lber on a Bonze Submission that was the lady anglers first marlin. The next fish was a 250 lber on a Bonze Tracker and the last fish of the day was also a 250lb fish on a Bonze Here For The Party.

11th May

 Well a great day for us today we went 5 for 6 on blues fishing down in the calm waters of the east of the island. We managed a 600lber on a Bonze Hercules a 400lber also on a Bonze Hercules, a 300lb fish on a Scorpion, a 275lb fish also on a Bonze Scorpion and a 250lb fish on a Bonze Submission.

12th May

 Okay today would have had to have been the best days fishing in my life! We ended the day going 10 for 12 on blue marlin. Just amazing!  We managed a double header and then the high light of the day my first ever triple header as a captain. Here are the list of fish: 450lber Submission, 600lber BTK, 200lber Hercules, 250lber Submission, 450lber BTK, 300lber BTK, 250lber Hercules, 200lber BTK, 250lber Tracker, 250lber Vampire.

13th May

  Well I was brought down to earth after yesterday. A very slow day for us today. We ended the day 0 for 4.

14th May

 Today we had one fish of 150lbs on a Bonze Submission. Very frustarting fishing after having  8 strikes for one catch.

15th May

 Another very frustrating day for us. We ended the day 1 for 8. With a 250lber on a Bonze Submission.

16th May

 A good day today we went 4 for 5.  As we got to the bank this morning we were greeted with a double header of fish a 150lber and a 250lber. One on a Submission and one on a Hercules. We quickly reset the lures and had another double on straight away but only managed one fish of 150lbs on a Bonze Hercules. We then had one more fish of 150lbs on a Bonze Hercules.

17th May

 we went 3 for 4 today. Our first fish which was one of a double was nice 700lber on a Bonze Hercules. We then had a 500lber on a Bonze Submission and finally a 250lber on a Bonze BTK. Aside from the fishing today I returned to the dock to the news all my money, credit cards and passport had been stollen from the safe at home. So this is very trying this place. So far since I have been here I have everything I bought with stolen but have luckily got some of it back so fingers crossed I  get my passport back at least.

18th

 A slower day today. We went 1 for 1 with a 300lber on a Bonze BTK.

19th May

 A slow day today. We went 0 for 1.

20th May

 The fishing has slowed this week. We went 1 for 3 today witha fish of 250lbs on a Bonze Submission.

21st May

 Today we went 1 for 2 witha 250lb fish on a Bonze Tracker.

22nd May

  A good day today we went 2 for 2 today on a couple of good fish. We are currently fishing 50lb tackle and managed a 450lber on a Bonze DS then the highlight of the day was a 750lber on 50lb line ona Bonze DS.

23rd May

 We went 1 for 2 today with a nice 650lb fish on a Bonze Submission.

24th May

 A heart breaking day! We went 0 for 1 on a really big fish. We finally hooked a monster of a fish and unfortunatley we hooked the fish on 50lb line which we have been fishing all week. After a good tussle and some very aggressive boat handling the line finally parted.

26th May

 A good day again today. We had first time marlin fishermen onboard today and went 4 for 6. We started the day with a 150lb fish on a Bonze Submission. Then a 220lb fish on a Bonze DS then a 250lb fish on a Bonze DS. Then the highlight of the day was a 800lb fish on a Bonze Hercules.

27th May

 The fishing continues to be good this week. We went 3 for 5 today. We started the day with a stroppy 150lber on a Bonze Hercules. We then got a 550lber on a Bonze Trojan and the finished the day with another nice fish of 650lbs on a Bonze DS.

29th May

  Another good day for us today we went 2 for 2 on blues. One fish of 250lbs and one fish of 275lbs both on a Bonze Trojan.

30th May

  Well  we arrived at the bank and the fishing was absolutely on fire! we did not go 10 minutes with the lúres in the water and we had a fish. We started witha double of fish a 110lber on a Bonze Trojan and a 130lber on a Bonze Tracker. We put the lures back in the water and with only 3 lures back out we were on  again this time releasing a 130lber on a Bonze Hercules. We then caught a 250lber also on a Bonze Hercules. Then disaster struck and we had a problem with the boat and had to towed home. So we ended the day after only 2 hours fishing 4 for 5 on Blues.

1st June

Another good day but a very frustrating as we went 3 for 10 on blues. These fish here some days are very hard to hook as they only swipe at the lure with there bill. We caught a 175lber on a Bonze Trojan, a 250lber on a Bonze Hercules and a 450lber on a Bonze Tracker.

3rd June

 Well the frustration continues. We went 1 for 9 today on blues. These fish here are just buggers to hook. The fish we caught was a 250lb fish on a Bonze Trojan.

5th June

Things continue to be very frustrating again but we did have a pretty good day. We went 2 for 9 on blues. After only 10 minutes of arriving at the bank this morning we were hooked up and we mangaed to tag a 700lber on a Bonze BTK. This fish was a tough scrap. We then put the lures in and after only a couple of minutes we were hooked up again on a 250lb fish that we let go on a Bonze Hercules.

6th June

 The story goes on and on about pulling hooks we went 1 for 10  tady. We just can't keep the hooks in anything at the moment. We caught a 375lb fish on a Bonze BTK.

7th June

 Well a good day today for us. We went 2 for 4 on blues. One fish of 500lbs on a Bonze Scorpion and a 325lber on a Bonze DS.

8th June

 Another good day today we went 2 for 2 on Blues. Both fish were around 325lbs one was on a Bonze BTK and one ona Bonze DS. The highlight of the day how ever was a 130lb yellowfin tuna which made a welcome suprise. This was taken on a Bonze Hercules.

9th June

 We had a good day today. We went 2 for 3 on Blues. The first fish of the day was a 400lber on a Bonze Hercules. There was some drama as we fought this fish as the fighting chair broke off the staunchen and the angler fell into the cockpit holding the rod. I could not help but laugh as the whole situation was comical. Anyway we caught that fish and let it go and reset the lures. Not 5 minutes after we were hooked up again on another nice fish that the angler played stand up on 130lb tackle. It was a huge effort on the anglers part as he muscled in a 550lber on a Bonze Argonaut.

10th June

 Well a slow day for us and a little unlucky we went 0 for 3 today.

11th June

 Well the bad luck continued for us today and we went 0 for 3 again. We just can't get the hooks into these fish.

12th June

   Another very slow day for us today. we went 0 for1. Finger crossed a new run of fish turns up soon.

14th June
 
 Today saw us go 2 for 5 on Blues. We fished the channel today and all the boats were very close with some spectacular action seeing fish come into the lures on the boats fishing beside us. The first fish we caught was a 250lber on a Bonze DS which was one of a double. We then set the lures again and quickly caught the second fish of the day another 250lb fish on a Bonze Submission.
 
15th June
 A slow day for us today with only one bite from a marlin that did not stay on.
 
16th June
 
  We fished back on the bank at Soa Pedro today and went 1 for 2 on Blues. We managed a small fish of 110lbs on a Bonze Hercules.
 
17th June
 
 Today we went 1 for 1 on Blues with a nice 400lb fish caught on a Bonze Trojan.
 
18th June
 
  Another slow day today but we did catch a nice 130lb yellowfin tuna on a Bonze Tracker.
 
19th June
 
  A frustarting day today. We went 1 for 4 on Blues. We had 2 fish fall off just short of the leader before finally managing a 425lber on a Bonze Tracker.
 
20th June
 
 We started a new charter today and were greated with flat calm water as we arrived at the bank. One boat was already hooked up to a nice sized fish and there was plenty of bait on the bank. I managed to mark a good school on my sounder in 170m and on my second turn we had a large fish come and inhale our Bonze Tracker on the long rigger. We got back to the fish quickly and had it on the leader in 5 minutes but were not able to release the fish as it was tail wrapped. We tried everything to try and get the fish unwrapped but unfortunately we could not and the fish went deep and died. We we able to stop the fish as we were lucky enough to realise what had happened and spent 30minutes slowly planing the fish up. On weighing the fish it went 343kg. Not a bad fish for the anglers first marlin!
 
21st June
 
  We went 1 for 1 today with a 300lb fish on a Bonze Tracker.
 
22nd June
 
  A slow day for us today we went 0 for 1 on blues.
 
23rd June
 
  We managed 1 for 4 today with a 110lb fish on a Bonze Tracker.
 
24th June
 
 After a slow few days we had an outstanding day today catching 5 for 8. We started the morning with a double. One fish of 150lbs on a Bonze DS and another fish of 250lbs on a Bonze Submission. We then managed 3 more fish of 200lbs, 300lbs and 500lbs all on a Bonze Tracker.
 
26th June
 
 Well the weather here at the moment is absolutely perfect and we had a good day today going 2 for 2 on blues. We managed a 200lber and a 350lber all on 50lb line.
 
27th June
 
  A frustrating day today saw us go 0 for 6 on Blues but good to see a good patch of fish here.
 
28th June
 
 Today was a bad day for myself aside from the fisheng. We went 3 for 4 on blues with a 300lber, a 400lber and a 500lber all on 50lb tackle. The bad bit for me was the first fish of 500lbs hit me in the chin with its bill as Iwas removing the hooks and left me with a nasty gash that required a few stitches. Definately makes you take more care on the next one.
 
29th June
 
  Another frustarting day today with us going 0 for 4 on blues and me nursing a pretty swollen chin.
 
30th June
 
  A slow day for the whole fleet today. We were the only lucky boat to catch a fish. We managed a 200lber on 50lb line.
 

July 4th
 
  Today we fished the world cup. We managed to raise 7 fish and catch 2. We caught a 150lb fish on a Bonze Tracker. I actually wound this one in. My first Atlantic blue marlin. We also caught a 200lner on a Bonze Hercules. Unfortunately we were not able to catch the big one today.
 
July 7
 
  Today we went 1 for 4 on a small fish of 120lbs. This one was on a Bonze Tracker.
 
July 8
 
  Alot of action today. We ended up 1 for 5 with a 350lb fish on a Bonze Argonaut.
 
July 9
 
  We went 0 for 2 today.
 
July 10
 
  A good day for us today. We went 1 for 2 on blues. with a fish of 350lbs on a Bonze Tracker and then we managed a nice 150lb yellowfin tuna also on a Bonze Tracker.
 
July 11
 
 A frustrating day today as my hook up rate has gone to pieces. We went 0 for 5 on blues. We did manage another nice 150lb tuna on the way home. This was on a Bonze Tracker.
 
July 12
 
 The tuna are starting ti show on a regular basis now. We caught another one today of 150lbs on a Bonze Tracker.
 
July 13
 
 Slow on the marlin and tuna today but we managed 2 nice mahimahi.
 
July 17
 
  Well the fishing has really slowed down and there was no action right across the whole fleet today.
 
July 18
 
Once again no action for us today.
 
July 19
 
  Well we finally manage to raise a couple of fish today but unfortunately theu did not stay on the hook. So we ended today 0 for 2.

 Another day of no action.

 A good day for us today. We went 2 for 3 on blues. We missed a fish early in the afternoon on the edge of the bank so I decided to work the area for some time and we were rewarded witha double header that we managed to get both fish from. One of 150 lbs on a Bonze Tracker and one of 175 lbs on a Bonze Argonaut.
 
July 22
 
  Today we went  1 for 1 with a 400lb fish. This was on a Bonze Hercules.
 
July 23
 
  Today we had no action. Unfortunately this is my last day fishing in Cape Verde for this year. I would like to thank everyone I have met and hung out with down there. It has been a great experience.

  A good day today we went 1 for 2  with a nice 700lb fish. It was lucky to that the fish was caught on a Bonze Hercules. This is my first fish on one of my lures in the Azores.

August 2

 Another slow day today. We saw nothing but things looked good on the bank.

August 3

 Slow again today with us seeing nothing.

 Another slow day for us again today.

August 6

 Well the fishing has certainly been slow the past couple of days. We saw nothing again today.

August 7

 Well we had a good day today after the past couple of slow days. We arrived at the banks and after only 20 minutes of trolling we were hooked up to a very nice 800lb fish. We managed to tag that one and that was our lot for the day.

August 8

 Another lucky day for us today. we went 1 for 2 on blues. Releasing a nice fish of 650lbs.

August 9

 After the last two days of nice fish we were back to another slow day where we had no action.

August 18

 Well we are finally back fishing today. Unfortunately nothing for us today.

August 19

 We raised a nice fish today on a Bonze Submission but were not able to get the hooks into the fish so we ended the day 0 for 1.

August 20

 A good day today we relesed a fish of 700lbs that gave me a good pull on the leader.

August 21

 Another good day for us today. We started out with a couple of white marlin up in the spread that gave us the run around and we could not hook them. We then raised a nice fish of around 600lbs
